Oh Mel, What The Hell?

So,  Hollywood is quietly (read = off the record) up in arms because a drunken Mel Gibson made an ass and anti-semite of himself the other night in Malibu.  I haven't liked Mel Gibson since I learned he is a raving religious lunatic.  Some things we simply shouldn't know about our celebrities (hello Tom Cruise!) as it distracts from their ability to allow the audience to surrrender disbelief for the 1 1/2 hours it takes to sit through one of their movies.  Gibson's glibness never set well with me and I kind of smiled when I heard all the juicy details of his arrest.  As far as I'm concerned he should have been put out to pasture a looooong time ago.  But, at the end of the day it is about the almighty dollar.  Just maybe he has offended enough people with his anti-semetic rant that his box office appeal with lead him out of this little biz. 

One can only pray.

Now if we can just apply these standards of outrage to the way we allow people to speak about gay people and fat people we will be getting somewhere as a society.

Gay Rights Leader Is An Idiot

The executive director of the Empire State Pride Agenda US gay rights group has described Senator Hillary Clinton as "a complete disappointment", raising the prospect that some in the LGBT community may stop supporting her political career due to her opposition to same-sex marriage.

In a memo Alan Van Capelle sent to his board members, the gay leader refused to "lend my name and sell tickets" to any fund-raiser for Clinton's Senate re-election campaign.

Ugh. Shut the fuck up, dude. Do you really expect Clinton to adopt the gay agenda?

I am so sick and tired of all these one-issue organizations trying to hijack the Democratic party. If it isn't the gays its the abortionists or the love & peace anti-war freaks. They are so busy trying to box politicians in to corners when they need to be taking their message to the American people.

There will be no advancement of anyone's agenda until we win some elections. Making these sort of demands on our politicians are not helpful.

Teen Wanted in Gay Bar Rampage Is Caught

Yahoo! News:

A teenager suspected of a hatchet-and-gun attack in a Massachusetts gay bar shot and killed a small-town police officer and the teen's passenger before he was critically wounded in a gun battle with police Saturday, authorities said.

Jacob D. Robida, 18, was shot twice in the head, and "it doesn't look good right now," said Massachusetts prosecutor Paul Walsh Jr.

Investigators had searched for Robida since Thursday's attack at Puzzles Lounge in New Bedford, Mass., that left three men wounded, one critically.

The hatchet used in the attack was found outside the bar, but detectives believed Robida still had the gun.

Police have labeled the incident a hate crime and said Robida would be charged with attempted murder, assault and civil rights violations.

⇒ The Florida Division of Elections has confirmed that backers of a proposed constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage failed to get enough signatures to have the issue placed on the November ballot. Florida4marriage turned in 455,730 signatures, well short of the 611,009 required the state confirmed Thursday morning. Link.

⇒ Republicans voted Thursday to make Rep. John Boehner (Ohio) the permanent replacement for Delay as House Leader. Boehner is a sponsor of the federal marriage amendment which would ban same-sex marriage under the Constitution. He has repeatedly voted against the Local Law Enforcement Enhancement Act which would add sexuality to groups protected under federal hate crime law. Link.

⇒ Saying he had expected more from her Congressman Barney Frank criticized Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for her role in the rejection of two international LGBT civil rights groups by a United Nations body.  Last month the United Nations Economic and Social Council, a think tank made up of non governmental agencies from around the world, voted not to admit the International Lesbian and Gay Association and the Danish Association of Gays and Lesbians.  Their application to join other nongovernmental agencies on the council was rejected without a hearing after the United States voted with some of the world's most repressive regimes, including Iran, Zimbabwe, China, Cameroon and Columbia to turn down the request. Link.

It released excerpts from the interview with James Lipton, which include several comments about her relationship with her mother, Judy Garland. "It was a responsibility," she remarks at one point about caring for a mother besieged by demons "I didn't become a kid until I was in my 30s. She would always say, 'What would I do without you?'" Later: "When I went on to that stage, I was with Judy Garland. My mother was no where in sight."

Brangelina Should Have Gay Wedding To Avoid Hollywood Curse

I have figured out a way for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to avoid the Hollywood marriage curse. You see, I am one of those folks who just does not believe in marriage. (I still can't figure out why the Gays are so eager to tie the knot) That goes triple for Hollywood weddings. They just don't work. I'm all for the Tim Robbins/Susan Sarandon relationship model. There is something about that piece of paper that screws up relationships.

Anyway. I've found a way for Brad and Angie to have all the benefits of a super duper Hollywood wedding AND avoid the curse. They should have a commitment ceremony like the gays do. huh? huh? Good one, right? Just think about it:

• He can buy her that gorgeous ring.
• She can wear a fabulous dress
• Guy Ritchie can be the best man
• Angie's brother, James Haven, can be her maid of honor (lol)
• His family can bear witness to torrid affair
• And Jaime Oliver can cater the party

And completely avoid the curse! Yes!
